Statistics Canada has launched its nationwide recruitment for the 2026 Census and is seeking temporary field workers in the Bow Valley, including Canmore, Alberta. The agency is hiring residents to work door-to-door to help ensure a complete and accurate population count.
The Job Resource Centre (JRC) in the Bow Valley posted local openings on January 13, 2026, as part of the national recruitment that began on January 6, 2026. Statistics Canada lists the pay for enumerators (non-supervisory positions) at $25.87 per hour. While that rate is well above Alberta’s minimum wage, it is below the Alberta Living Wage Network’s most recent estimate for Canmore (reported as $38.80 per hour in 2023).
Statistics Canada also says crew leaders (supervisory positions) are available at $31.32 per hour, plus authorized expenses. The agency says a variety of supervisory and non‑supervisory opportunities will be available between March and July 2026, with peak field activity in May.
The data collected during the census help governments and communities plan services such as schools, hospitals, public transportation and housing. Those interested in applying can find full details and the official job postings on the Statistics Canada census jobs webpage.
