Carberry, Manitoba, is preparing to host the 136th McCain Superspiel this February, an annual curling event that brings competitors from across the region and provides a boost to the local economy. This long-standing tradition is a cornerstone of the Westman region’s winter calendar.
The competition is organized by Curl Carberry (the Carberry Curling Club) and takes place at the Carberry Plains Community Centre. The men’s draw runs Feb. 17–22, 2026, while the women’s draw follows Feb. 24–28, 2026.
The tournament is supported by title sponsor McCain Foods (Canada), which maintains a significant processing presence in the region—McCain announced infrastructure investments totaling $75 million for its Portage la Prairie and Carberry facilities. According to records from the Manitoba Historical Society, the local club dates back more than 130 years and was among the early clubs in Manitoba’s curling history.
According to event materials and local organizers, the roughly two-week Superspiel is the busiest winter period for Carberry’s hotels and restaurants. Teams pay an entry fee of $600 for the men’s draw and $550 for the women’s draw; entries typically close around Feb. 1 (organizers advise confirming the exact registration deadline with Curl Carberry).
