Two local teams from the Carberry Curling Club turned in strong performances at the 2026 Curling Club Provincial Championship, which took place from March 26 to March 29, 2026, at the Beausejour Curling Club.
The men’s team, skipped by Kelly Marnoch and including teammates Bart Witherspoon, Derek Samagalski, Trevor Calvert, and Evan Reynolds, finished as the event runner-up. After a successful season that saw the team finish first in the Westman Superleague standings with a 10-1 record, they reached the championship final in Beausejour. They ultimately finished with a 4-1 record, falling 6-4 to a team skipped by Justin Richter.
On the women’s side, Team Calvert, led by skip Alyssa Calvert and featuring Stacey Irwin, Pam Robins, and Roz Taylor, represented the community by advancing to the semi-finals. They were eliminated in that round by a team from Fort Rouge skipped by Kara Balshaw. Alyssa Calvert is a veteran competitor who has made eight appearances at provincial championships during her career.
The provincial event, presented by Original 16, featured 24 teams from across Manitoba competing for the chance to advance to the national championships in St. Thomas, Ontario, later this year. According to results published by CurlManitoba, these results highlight the continued competitiveness of the Carberry curling community. The local club has a deep history in the sport, serving as one of the seven founding members of the provincial curling association in 1888.
