Carberry, Manitoba, will welcome 12 youth hockey teams from Manitoba and Saskatchewan for the Rural ‘A’ U15 Tournament of Champions from January 15 to January 18, 2026. The four-day event will bring together U15 players (ages 13 and 14) to compete for a regional title.
Carberry Minor Hockey is leading the effort to host the tournament at the Carberry Plains Community Centre. Organizers have entered an active planning phase to coordinate the visiting teams and mobilize volunteers and sponsorships.
Town officials expect roughly 200 to 250 athletes and their families to visit, which is expected to increase local hotel occupancy and boost business for restaurants and service stations. Local leaders view the influx as an important economic driver for the community during the quiet winter months.
The tournament is organized by Carberry Minor Hockey, an affiliate of Hockey Manitoba (Westman South), and is being run by a volunteer-led committee. Organizers are encouraging residents to get involved by volunteering or attending the games to support the young players.
The Carberry Plains Community Centre includes an indoor skating rink and a range of recreation spaces that make it a central gathering spot for the town. Hosting large tournaments is a key part of the community’s strategy to support youth programming and keep local facilities active throughout the year.
