The Carberry Minor Hockey Association has added the “CMHA Plainsmen Cup Golf” to its events lineup, scheduling the community tournament for June 2026 in Carberry, Manitoba. The early announcement gives local businesses and community members time to plan sponsorships or register teams ahead of the fundraiser to support youth hockey.

The tournament is likely to be held at the Sandhills Golf Course, the 9‑hole course south of Carberry, which regularly hosts local tournaments and can accommodate charity fundraisers. Exact tournament details and sponsorship packages will be released closer to the date.

Proceeds from the Plainsmen Cup Golf will help offset rising ice‑time and equipment costs for U7 through U15 teams. Funds will also support the association’s on‑ice development programs, including the “Breakfast Club” program, which provides breakfast for players after early‑morning skating sessions and before they head to school.

Association President Morgan Fryer, along with fundraising leads Ricki Cline and Matt Phillips, are spearheading the planning. They hope to secure hole and title sponsorships from area businesses and boost community engagement during the off‑season.

By listing the event nearly two years in advance on its official events calendar, CMHA is taking a long‑range approach to fundraising. Rural minor hockey associations across Manitoba have increasingly turned to golf tournaments to shore up budgets and ensure sustainable support for youth programs.
