On January 12, 2026, the Manitoba government launched a new digital health card that allows people in Carberry, Manitoba, to carry their health information on their smartphones. Residents can present the digital credential at local facilities such as the Carberry Plains Health Centre instead of relying solely on the old paper registration certificate.

The Manitoba government created the digital card as part of a modernization effort to replace fragile, easily damaged paper cards. Residents store the card in the MB Wallet mobile app; the wallet is protected by a six‑digit PIN and can use biometric authentication (fingerprint or Face ID) for quick, secure access.

To get the digital version, residents must apply through the My Manitoba Health Card portal. Once the application is approved, applicants receive a confirmation email with instructions and a digital invitation that can be added to MB Wallet.

The Manitoba government says participation in the digital program is voluntary; traditional paper cards and the plastic cards introduced in 2025 remain valid for anyone who prefers not to use a mobile device.

Manitoba officials say the update is intended to make it easier for clinic staff in communities like Carberry to access accurate patient details quickly. The digital health card rollout is part of a broader provincial modernization plan to improve how people access medical services across the region.
