The Manitoba government is seeking contractors to install new fire and life-safety systems at the Carberry Personal Care Home in Carberry, Manitoba. This project, which was put out for bid in early February 2026, aims to bring the facility up to modern safety standards and provide better protection for residents and staff.

The work at the 36-bed facility, located at 340 Toronto St., includes installing automatic sprinklers, new fire alarms, and carbon monoxide monitors. Other improvements planned for the building, which is connected to the Carberry Health Centre, include upgraded door hardware, firestopping, and new interior finishes.

According to the Manitoba government, provincial rules created in 2015 required all licensed personal care homes to have automatic sprinkler systems by January 1, 2026. This project is part of a larger effort by Prairie Mountain Health to modernize safety systems in aging care facilities across the province.

The construction work is expected to continue through 2026 and may lead to temporary changes in how people access the building or move around inside. Families who have questions about the timing of the project are encouraged to contact Prairie Mountain Health for specific updates on how the work will affect the facility.
