Carman snowmobilers should note Snoman (Snowmobilers of Manitoba) has listed the “Around the Mountain” 50th‑anniversary ride on its events calendar for January 29, 2026. Organized by the Western Region Snowmobile Association (WRSA) and centered in the Turtle Mountain area of Western Manitoba, the commemorative trek marks Snoman’s 50th anniversary and is expected to draw riders from across the province, including those travelling through Carman.
Snoman’s events listing identifies the ride as a Western Region loop with checkpoints; organizers indicate Snopass verification and other safety protocols will apply. Riders are required to hold a valid Snopass and organizers advise registering in advance. The event is expected to attract a large turnout.
The Carman Sno Flies Snowmobile Club — which maintains trails linking Carman to Elm Creek, St. Claude and Roseisle — is expected to prioritize grooming on transit routes leading west to accommodate increased traffic. Coordination between regional associations, including Central Region groups and the WRSA, will be important to keep transit trails safe and well‑maintained in the weeks before the ride.
“To be eligible, students have to be members of a club within that region… we look forward to turning every ride into a fun adventure,” said Darcy Wyborn, WRSA president and Snoman vice‑president. Local clubs often travel in convoys for cross‑regional events, a tradition that enhances safety and camaraderie on the snow.
Riders can find registration details on Snoman’s events portal and purchase Snopasses through Manitoba Public Insurance (as directed by Snoman). Trail conditions can be tracked using Snoman’s interactive map and the Snowmobile Manitoba mobile app. For updates on local grooming schedules and club‑led convoys, visit the Carman Sno Flies website.
