Residents in Casselman, Ontario, are facing a mix of light snow and freezing drizzle starting the evening of Friday, February 13, 2026, followed by a significant warm-up early next week. According to Environment Canada, the shift from freezing temperatures to a thaw could create hazardous conditions on local streets and properties.

The weather on Friday is expected to remain sunny with a high of -5°C before clouds move in during the evening hours. Light snow is forecast to begin tonight, but officials warn of a specific risk of freezing drizzle overnight into Saturday morning. This freezing drizzle can create a thin glaze of ice that is often difficult to see, making sidewalks and roads especially slippery for drivers and pedestrians.

By Monday, February 16, 2026, temperatures are projected to climb to a high of +2°C, which is about 6 degrees warmer than the usual high for mid-February. This warmer weather is expected to continue into Tuesday, leading to melting snow and potential runoff in low-lying areas. South Nation Conservation monitors regional water levels and suggests that residents keep an eye on drainage around their homes to prevent localized flooding.

As the snowpack begins to melt and detach during the thaw, there is also an increased risk of ice falling from roofs and eaves. According to the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, property owners are responsible for clearing away snow and ice that could fall and cause injuries to people below. Drivers should remain cautious of slushy conditions and puddles on local roads as the temperature stays above the freezing mark through the early part of the week.
