Environmental advocate Dr. David Suzuki and his wife Tara Cullis are bringing a live stage production to the Chatham Capitol Theatre in Chatham, Ontario, on March 3, 2026. The event, called What You Won’t Do For Love, uses the couple’s long marriage to explore the relationship between people and the planet. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. and is expected to bring more visitors to the downtown area during the winter arts season.

The show is a scripted conversation that focuses on personal stories rather than a standard lecture. Suzuki and Cullis share the stage with actors Miriam Fernandes and Sturla Alvsvåg as they discuss their family history and life experiences. The production is produced by Why Not Theatre and directed by Ravi Jain; it aims to make environmental issues feel more personal and less clinical for audiences.

This appearance is one stop on a 15-city tour across Ontario during Suzuki’s 90th birthday year in 2026. The tour has been described in coverage as a legacy or “final curtain call” style tour for the long-time activist following his retirement as host of CBC’s The Nature of Things in 2023.

Tara Cullis, long described as the “silent engine” behind the David Suzuki Foundation, takes an equal role on stage for this production. She has said the show aims to provide a positive way forward by focusing on love as a motivator for change. The production was originally planned to premiere in early 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted those plans; it was adapted into a film in 2021 and has since been re-adapted for this 2026 Ontario tour.

Local officials in Chatham-Kent are using the event to help position the community as a regular stop for major tours. Bringing high-capacity shows to the theatre on weeknights is part of a strategy to increase revenue for local restaurants and shops. By focusing on personal connection, the show aims to offer a new way for residents to think about caring for the world around them.
