Environment Canada has issued a Yellow Warning for freezing rain for the Chatham-Kent region, including Chatham, Ontario, effective 10:14 p.m. EST on December 25, 2025. The warning covers Boxing Day (December 26). Environment Canada forecasts ice accretion of about 2 to 5 mm in Chatham-Kent, with some nearby areas forecast up to 5–10 mm, creating slippery roads and increasing the risk of power outages.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has activated its emergency response framework and is deploying salt and brine on major arterial routes. Residents can report icy roads and fallen branches through the municipality’s 3-1-1 service.

Local utility Entegrus is monitoring conditions for ice loading on power lines and advises customers to report outages and emergencies to its outage line; the utility’s public notices say crews are ready to respond. The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority warns that a transition to liquid rain by Friday afternoon could strain drainage systems and cause localized flooding in low-lying areas along the Thames River.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for CKAlert for real-time emergency notifications and to monitor Environment Canada warnings. For electricity outages, call Entegrus’s outage line at 1-866-804-7325.
