High school students in Chatham, Ontario, are taking part in a specialized brain trauma workshop after school on February 11, 2026, to prepare for future careers in health care. The training is designed to give local students focused, hands-on experience useful for work in medical clinics and hospitals.
The workshop is being held at Ursuline College Chatham for students enrolled in the school’s Health and Wellness Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program. The session is led by staff member Mr. Evans and takes place in room 506; it focuses on identifying brain injuries and the appropriate ways to respond to them.
The instruction is intended to help students during upcoming clinical placements and to enable them to respond safely if someone suffers a head injury at a school sports event or in the community. The workshop provides a more practical look at medical topics than is typically possible in a standard classroom.
The training follows the aims of Rowan’s Law, Ontario’s concussion-safety legislation, which seeks to improve concussion awareness and protocols across the province. By learning these skills now, students are better prepared to recognize the physical signs of trauma and to support the local health-care workforce pipeline.
Students who need more information or need to report an absence from the workshop should contact the school office or Mr. Evans through the school’s official contact channels. Ursuline College first announced the session to the student body on February 10, 2026.
