Farm families in the Chestermere area are eligible to be nominated and may be recognized for their farming and community service during the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies’ annual convention, scheduled for February 6–8, 2026. The association is hosting the event at the River Cree Resort & Hotel in Enoch (Edmonton) to celebrate the role family farms play in the provincial economy.
The highlight of the weekend is the Farm Family Awards gala on the evening of Saturday, February 7, 2026, which spotlights multi-generational family farms. For local producers, the Rocky View Chestermere Agricultural Society acts as the primary nominating body for families from Chestermere and surrounding Rocky View County.
Nominees are evaluated on agricultural practices and community involvement; according to the Government of Alberta, these awards recognize leadership and accomplishment in the agricultural sector. Recipients of farm-family awards in Alberta commonly receive a commemorative gate sign, which many families use as a mark of excellence for their business and legacy.
The Rocky View Chestermere Agricultural Society nominates local families using the AAAS nomination and scoring framework, with provincial scoring based on local, regional and provincial contributions. Most local nomination windows for the 2026 awards closed by January 5, 2026. The upcoming celebration also emphasizes the heritage of families who continue to farm as the area around Chestermere grows.
