Chestermere, Alberta, will host a Multicultural Fashion Show titled “Connecting Community” on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The event is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Main Hall of the Chestermere Recreation Centre. Organizers are recruiting local seniors, adults and youth to participate by wearing outfits that represent their heritage.
The show arrives as the city experiences rapid growth. The City of Chestermere’s 2024 municipal census reported a population of 28,129 residents, a significant increase since 2021. That growth has brought many new families to the area, making community events such as this an opportunity for neighbours to get to know one another. The goal of the runway-style presentation is to celebrate the different cultural backgrounds of people living in the city.
Groups such as the Multicultural Youth Society of Chestermere (MYSC) are frequently involved in organizing or partnering on cultural events in Chestermere, and the Chestermere Regional Community Association (CRCA) operates the Recreation Centre where the show will be held. Participants are expected to showcase global cultural attire, including South Asian and Muslim styles as well as Indigenous garments, allowing residents of all ages to share their histories with friends and neighbours.
Local reporting and the municipal census have noted Chestermere as one of Canada’s fastest-growing municipalities. The Multicultural Fashion Show is part of a broader pattern of local festivals and cultural events aimed at celebrating the city’s diversity and strengthening community bonds by involving people from children to seniors.
