A 64-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal assault in northeast Calgary last week. The Calgary Police Service arrested Cecil Lapp in connection with the investigation, which began on Friday, February 13, 2026.
The incident occurred Friday morning when officers were called to a home in the 100 block of Rundlecairn Road N.E. in the Rundle community. Upon arrival, police found a man in his 50s suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Investigators have stated that the assault was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing risk to public safety. No other suspects are currently being sought in relation to the death.
Lapp remains in custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The Calgary Police Service homicide unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.
