Dave Daley, the owner of Wapusk Adventures in Churchill, Manitoba, is taking on a major leadership role to help grow Indigenous tourism across the country. Daley is currently the board chair for Indigenous Tourism Manitoba and also represents the province on the national board for the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada.
Daley previously chaired the world’s largest Indigenous tourism conference where he welcomed approximately 1,100 international visitors. His work focuses on making sure Indigenous people are the ones telling their own stories to visitors while building a successful local economy.
This leadership role helps bring more attention to local experiences in Churchill, such as dog sledding tours. By working with provincial and national groups, Daley is helping to attract more funding and international visitors to northern businesses and cultural experiences.
The International Indigenous Tourism Conference will take place in Edmonton from February 17 to February 19, 2026. This gathering is expected to bring together over 1,100 delegates from 11 different countries to discuss ways to support authentic Indigenous travel experiences across Canada.
