The University College of the North is launching a new leadership workshop for teenagers in Churchill, Manitoba, to help them develop practical skills for their community. The program, known as REACH, is specifically for young people aged 13 to 15 and will take place from May 22 to May 24, 2026.

Students will gather at the Churchill Regional Centre to participate in hands-on activities that focus on wellness and local culture. The workshop is designed to provide teens with tools for community action and mentorship from local leaders during a key stage of their development.

This initiative follows recent support for northern education, including a $5 million grant from the Mastercard Foundation focused on student success in the region. According to the Manitoba government, these types of programs allow local residents to build a future for their families right in northern Manitoba.

The organizers aim to combine traditional knowledge with modern leadership training to help young people address local challenges. Families and schools in the area are encouraged to help identify students who would benefit from this youth development opportunity.
