In Cochrane, Alberta, the Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area publicly thanked the Rocky Mountain Rotary Club for a $2,500 donation on its Facebook page. Helping Hands said the funds will support its volunteer-led programs, including medical transportation, emergency meal delivery and maintenance of its free food sheds.
The donation was part of the Rotary club’s final legacy grants after the club decided to close in 2025, distributing about $61,000 among local charities in its final round of donations.
“These groups really need support, especially with everything getting more expensive and donations getting a bit forgotten,” said Ryan Baum, of the Rocky Mountain Rotary Club, in remarks reported by CochraneNow. Baum said the club aimed its final grants at organizations providing direct help to seniors, low-income families and people facing food insecurity.
