Collingwood’s Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts has unveiled its Winter–Spring 2026 workshop schedule, running January 5 to April 30 at its gallery at 65 Simcoe Street. The four-month series features painting, life drawing, jewellery design and fibre-arts classes led by regional artists. As the BMFA marks its 50th year, the program offers residents and visitors a creative indoor option during the busy ski and shoulder seasons.

Class sizes typically range from about 8 to 12 participants, though exact limits vary by workshop and will be listed on each event page. Workshops are taught by local artisans such as Amita Maru (jewellery) and Shirley Sutton (felting/fibre arts — e.g., a Felted Bowl workshop); Cheryl Sheridan is listed as the instructor for a dedicated weaving workshop. Registration is expected to open in mid-December via the BMFA website (or in person at the Simcoe Street gallery); ticket prices vary by workshop, so check individual event listings and book in advance to secure a spot.

By drawing attendees into Blue Mountain Village and downtown Collingwood, the BMFA expects to boost weekend foot traffic for shops, cafés and galleries. The foundation’s partnership with the Blue Mountain Village Association helps channel resort visitors into cultural programming, supporting small businesses through the winter.

Sandra Watt, listed in the Research Brief as a BMFA administrator and contact for workshop logistics, says the winter workshops are designed to follow the holiday “Winter’s Gift” market and keep the gallery active year-round. For full class descriptions, schedules and ticketing details, see the BMFA events pages at or the Blue Mountain Village events calendar, or contact the gallery at 65 Simcoe Street.
