On December 28, 2025, the Town of Collingwood posted a “Temporary Service Disruption: Outdoor Rink” notice for the Central Park Outdoor Rink at 200 Hume Street. The disruption is part of a $1.9-million “Raise the Roof” capital project to install a permanent roof and extend the skating season; the rink is targeted to reopen in early 2026. (The town previously announced the “Raise the Roof” project in September 2025.)
The project began on August 14, 2025, according to the town’s construction schedule, and is funded by a $980,600 grant from the Ontario Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund together with town capital budget funds. Town officials say the new roof will protect the ice from sun and rain, reducing the soft-ice closures that occurred in recent winters.
All outdoor programming—public skating, private lessons and facility rentals—will be suspended or moved indoors for the remainder of the 2025 season. Residents can use the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena downtown or the indoor Central Park Arena while the roof installation is under way.
Residents with prepaid lessons or rink rentals should contact Service Collingwood at 705-445-1030 or log into their Perfect Mind recreation account for credits or refunds.
“The Province is helping raise the roof over the outdoor rink at Central Park… extending the ice season and making it a year-round community hub,” said Brian Saunderson, MPP for Simcoe–Grey (official announcement, Sept. 2025).
