Collingwood, Ontario, is under a weather advisory from Environment Canada for the night of December 28, 2025, with freezing drizzle overnight turning to periods of freezing rain and snow and wind chills dipping near −18 °C.

The Town of Collingwood Public Works has mobilized sanding and salting crews on priority routes, including Highway 26 and Hurontario Street, following the town’s Winter Maintenance policy to keep arterial routes clear. “The safe travel of residents and visitors on roads and sidewalks remains the priority,” said Town of Collingwood Winter Operations.

The Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP detachment is monitoring road conditions and said it may close Highway 26 if ice or low visibility make driving unsafe. Motorists are advised to watch for travel advisories via Ontario 511 and plan extra travel time.

Blue Mountain Resort officials warn that freezing rain can halt lift operations and create icy patches on access roads. During the current blackout period for 5×7® season-pass access (Dec. 27–30), pass restrictions apply; the resort’s terms state there are no refunds or compensation for cancellations of operations on account of weather unless pass holders purchased optional insurance. Guests are advised to check conditions before heading up the mountain.

Ice accumulation on lines could lead to localized power outages; EPCOR says crews will respond and publish estimated restoration times on its outage map. Residents and visitors are urged to drive slowly, allow extra time, and monitor local updates before travelling.
