Residents in Collingwood, Ontario, should prepare for hazardous travel as a winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow and freezing rain starting Wednesday morning, February 18, 2026. Environment Canada has issued a weather watch for the area, warning that the storm will likely last through the evening and could cause power outages or travel delays.

The storm is expected to drop between 10 and 15 centimetres of snow across the region. This will be followed by several hours of freezing rain that could leave 2 to 5 millimetres of ice build-up on roads, trees, and power lines.

Because of the ice and snow, walking and driving may become difficult and visibility could drop suddenly. Residents are encouraged to secure any loose outdoor items and give themselves extra time for any necessary travel while the storm passes.

To help with the cleanup, the Town of Collingwood plans to clear the busiest main roads and streets near the hospital first. Crews will then move to secondary streets and residential neighbourhoods once the most used routes are safe.
