The Events for Life Centre is hosting its annual sock hop at Blue Mountain Village in The Blue Mountains, Ontario, on March 19, 2026. This community fundraiser supports day programs for local adults with special needs while bringing families and visitors together during the busy March Break season. The event runs from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and encourages everyone to wear mismatched socks for an afternoon of dancing and social time.
The organization was started in 2013 to help students who finish high school at age 21 but still need support and social activities. Today, the non-profit serves people from Thornbury, Meaford, and Collingwood by providing life skills training and work experience. According to The Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce, the group also operates a cafe at the Beaver Valley Community Centre and sells handmade crafts at local shops.
The fundraiser takes place during a peak travel week for the region, which helps draw attention to the services provided for adults with developmental disabilities. Executive Director Barb Weeden and Board Chair Kevin J. Whyte lead the effort to integrate participants into the community through public events. By hosting the gathering in the village, the organization hopes to raise money for its programs while supporting nearby vendors with extra foot traffic.
