Residents in Collingwood, Ontario looking to tap into their creative side now have a new local option for performing arts training. Theatre Collingwood is launching a series of beginner-friendly improv workshops this spring, designed to help adults build confidence in a fun, low-pressure environment.

The organization is hosting two initial improv sampler sessions on April 1 and April 8, 2026. These introductory workshops will be followed by a full four-week course that starts on April 15, 2026. The program is specifically tailored for those with no prior experience who want to try unscripted acting.

Operating as a registered not-for-profit charity for over 41 years, Theatre Collingwood provides arts programming to residents across the region, including Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, and The Blue Mountains. The new improv sessions are part of the company’s expanding range of educational offerings, which currently include workshops such as mask making and burlesque.

The sessions are intended to provide local access to drama training, meaning residents no longer need to travel to larger centres to participate in structured performing arts classes. The programs take place at the Simcoe Street Theatre, an intimate 100-seat studio venue located at 65 Simcoe Street in downtown Collingwood.

Since joining the organization in 2013, Executive Director Erica Angus has worked to expand these types of community education programs. Those interested in learning more about the upcoming sessions can find registration details on the Theatre Collingwood website or through their online ticket portal.
