Gardeners and families in Colwood, British Columbia, can prepare for the spring season at the upcoming West Shore Seedy Saturday on March 7, 2026. This 3rd annual event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Royal Bay Secondary School.
Organized by ReImagine West Shore and the Flourish! School Food Society, the gathering offers a community space to swap seeds and buy local plants. Admission is free or by donation, and the money raised goes toward supporting meal programs in local schools.
The event has moved to a larger space in the City of Colwood this year to accommodate more visitors and new features. One addition is the Eat Your Fruits and Veggies Quilt Show, which features artwork created by local students to highlight food education.
Guests can also attend workshops led by local experts to learn about sustainable gardening practices like composting. Speakers include Fiona Hamersley-Chambers from Metchosin Farm and Gord Baird from Eco-Sense, who will provide advice for residents looking to start their own home gardens.
