Drivers in Colwood should plan for potential delays as construction crews perform curb repairs and resurfacing at the intersection of Wale Road and Wilfert Road. The work, which began on March 31, is set to continue daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. until April 8, 2026.
During these hours, the right-turn lane on Wale Road will be partially blocked. According to the City of Colwood, traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist with directing vehicles through the area. Outside of these construction hours, the lane will remain open to traffic.
The repair project is being handled by Copcan Civil LP, a heavy civil construction firm based in Nanaimo. Residents or business owners with questions regarding the work can contact the Engineering Department at 250-478-5999 or via email at engineering@colwood.ca.
This work is part of a broader set of infrastructure improvements for the intersection. The city previously received a $208,000 grant from the BC Active Transportation Infrastructure program to upgrade the area. Planned enhancements include signalization in all directions, a new diagonal crossing for users of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, and improved protection for bike lanes.
