The Town of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador, has opened its outdoor skating rink at the CBS Community Park for the 2026 winter season. Located at 20 Bishops Road, the rink uses a refrigerated system beneath the surface to keep the ice frozen even when temperatures rise above freezing.
The facility is open to the public every day from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., but it closes daily from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for ice maintenance. According to the Town of Conception Bay South, the rink officially began its seasonal operations on January 8, 2026.
To ensure everyone can skate safely, the town requires all ice users to wear a CSA‑approved helmet while on the ice. At the outdoor CBS Community Park rink, hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted during public sessions; (note that sticks and pucks are allowed only during designated adult shinny sessions at certain indoor facilities).
Residents can stay updated on ice conditions or weather closures by signing up for the Voyent Alert! notification system. This rink is part of a larger push for expanded local recreation, which also includes a recently announced multi‑sport facility planned for the town’s Gateway Commercial Park (Gateway Drive).
For more information on rules and daily schedules, residents can visit the town’s official skating page. The outdoor rink is expected to remain open through mid‑to‑late March, weather permitting (the town’s skating schedule lists programs in effect through March 29, 2026).
