The RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador successfully located a 71-year-old man on February 12, 2026, after he was reported missing in the Bay Roberts area. The man was found safe in the early morning hours near Conception Bay South, ending a search that had begun the previous day. Local officers expressed relief that the situation was resolved quickly and without injury.

The search covered several communities and moved from the Town of Bay Roberts toward the outskirts of Conception Bay South. Police had issued an alert because they were concerned for the man’s safety and well-being. Officers mentioned that tips from the public were the most important factor in finding him, as residents helped track his movements across the region.

While the man’s name has not been shared to keep his information private, local officials expressed gratitude for the help received from the community. This successful recovery is an example of the coordination between local law enforcement and resources like the National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (NCMPUR) to ensure vulnerable residents are returned home. The distance of about 60 kilometres between where the man was last seen and where he was found required a large search effort.
