A local business is stepping up to support families in need as demand for food assistance grows in Dauphin, Manitoba. Throughout April 2026, the local Delta 9 Cannabis retail store, now part of the FIKA Company network, is hosting a donation drive for the Dauphin and District Community Food Bank.
The food bank, which is located in the lower level of the Parkland Crossing building at 220 Whitmore Ave W, is looking for donations of non-perishable food items, baby formula, and hygiene products. These specific items are currently in high demand as local food banks across Manitoba face record requests for assistance.
The need for local support is especially urgent given the economic climate in the province. According to regional data, food bank visits across Manitoba have doubled since 2021 due to the rising cost of living, inflation, and increased grocery prices. With nearly 20 per cent of people in Manitoba experiencing food insecurity, organizations are reporting that students, working families, and seniors are increasingly relying on services like the local food bank, which provides emergency three-day food supplies every two weeks.
Delta 9 Cannabis opened its Dauphin location at 1351 Main Street South in December 2022. As a regional centre, Dauphin serves a trading area of more than 56,000 people, and organizers hope the community will help ensure the food bank remains stocked to meet this ongoing demand. Customers interested in contributing can drop off their donations directly at the store.
