Dauphin, Manitoba – MacKenzie Middle School has named Chelsea Hockridge as its new vice-principal, effective February 2, 2026, the school announced this week. Hockridge will work alongside Principal Dawn Dutchak to lead the school at 212 1st St. NE as it enters a busy period of programming updates and building renovations.

Chelsea Hockridge is listed as vice-principal in the MacKenzie Middle School staff directory. In her new role, she will oversee student discipline, support academic programming and help maintain a safe, caring environment for grades 6 to 8.

“At MMS, it is our mission to create a safe and caring learning environment that fosters success through mindful citizenship,” the school’s mission statement reads. Hockridge is expected to champion that approach by strengthening student supports and encouraging responsible community engagement.

Principal Dawn Dutchak said she looks forward to collaborating with Hockridge on immediate priorities, including enhancing literacy and numeracy supports and working closely with teachers as the school rolls out its 2026–27 curriculum. Dutchak added that the long lead time before the February start will allow a smooth handover of responsibilities.

The appointment comes as the Mountain View School Division continues to recover from significant leadership turnover. A Global News report in June 2024 noted the division’s superintendent was fired and three trustees resigned. Acting Superintendent Suzanne Cottyn said naming Hockridge early gives MMS time to integrate her into next year’s budget planning and Phase II renovations set to modernize the school’s facilities.
