A 42-year-old Dauphin man, Daniel Gingera, is facing 14 charges after being arrested by Royal Canadian Mounted Police on March 28, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Officers patrolling Main Street South spotted him outside a convenience store and determined he was in breach of his release conditions.

An officer from the West District General Investigation Section attempted to make an arrest, but Gingera initially resisted before being taken into custody safely. A search of a bag he was carrying led to the discovery of a sawed-off shotgun, a knife, ammunition, a road flare, and drug paraphernalia.

The charges filed against Gingera include resisting a peace officer, failing to comply with a release order, carrying a concealed weapon, and multiple weapons possession offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm. Under the Criminal Code, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm can lead to severe penalties, with some convictions carrying up to 10 years in prison.

Gingera appeared in Dauphin Provincial Court on March 31, 2026, and has been remanded into custody. His next court date is set for May 7, 2026.

This incident follows another arrest in the city earlier this month. On March 2, 2026, a 27-year-old local man was also taken into custody by police on similar weapons and release condition charges. The local RCMP detachment, which covers about 8,000 square kilometres and serves 16,000 residents, continues to monitor public safety in the region. These efforts are supported by the Manitoba government, which recently invested over $33,000 in local crime prevention initiatives and opened a newly renovated courthouse in January 2026.
