On Monday, January 20, 2026, Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School (DRCSS) will host a Scholarship Information Night for Grade 12 students; Grade 11 learners are invited to start planning early. The event is scheduled for Jan. 20 and sessions are typically held at 7:00 PM. The meeting will take place at DRCSS (330 Mountain Road); the exact venue is typically the school library or cafeteria and will be confirmed by the school.
Led by the DRCSS Guidance Department and Career Guidance Counselor Shannon Davies, the workshop will include a walkthrough of the Mountain View School Division (MVSD) Scholarship Database, clarify the difference between merit-based scholarships and need-based bursaries, and introduce students to the school’s Personal Data Inventory (PDI) system (PDI templates and other resources are available on the DRCSS scholarship page).
Attendees will be provided with guides and application checklists (print or electronic where available). After the group presentation, students are encouraged to book one-on-one meetings with Ms. Davies for individual application reviews, draft feedback, and questions about eligibility and essay writing.
“Our goal is to ensure students can demonstrate their academic achievements, leadership, and community volunteerism effectively to maximize their potential,” said Shannon Davies, reflecting the guidance department’s approach (source: DRCSS Events). “The Personal Data Inventory sheet is the most critical tool for our students; it allows us to match them with awards they might not even know they qualify for.”
In past years, DRCSS graduating classes have collectively earned between $90,000 and $130,000 in local scholarships, according to local media reports. With post-secondary costs rising, the information night aims to give Dauphin students and families a practical boost in planning and applying for local and provincial awards.
