The Dauphin Friendship Centre is hosting its annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk on February 28, 2026, in Dauphin, Manitoba. This evening event brings the community together to walk outdoors to raise money for local programs that help people facing hunger and cold during the winter months.

The fundraiser has already collected $28,150, which is well above the original $25,000 goal. These funds specifically support the Food for Thought program, which has provided hot meals to students in the area for 32 years. Any child enrolled in local schools can receive a nutritious lunch through the program regardless of their family’s financial situation.

The walk includes 2 km and 5 km routes that start and end at the Friendship Centre at 210 1st Ave NE. Check-in for walkers begins at 4:00 PM, with opening remarks at 4:45 PM and the walk starting at 5:00 PM. Local teams helping with the effort include the Northwest Metis Council and the Rotary Ramblers, along with support from lead sponsor Johnston & Company Barristers and Solicitors.
