On February 15, 2026, broadcaster Kevin R. Jeffrey celebrated two decades in the media industry, marking the milestone by reflecting on his start in Dauphin, Manitoba, where he first worked as a morning news anchor and hockey announcer. Jeffrey began his professional journey in late 2005 at the local radio station, 730 CKDM, which serves the Parkland region.

During his time in the community, Jeffrey provided colour commentary for the Dauphin Kings during the 2005-2006 season. This period was a major time for local sports, as it included the 2006 opening of the Credit Union Place arena where the team plays.

Jeffrey’s early career saw him work alongside familiar station fixtures like Sports Director Darnell Duff and Program Director Bruce Leperre. While Duff remains the voice of the Kings today, the local media community is currently mourning the recent passing of Leperre, a longtime mentor and radio veteran who died just days before the milestone celebration. Jeffrey’s early years in the local booth and newsroom helped build a career that has now lasted 20 years.

Currently, Jeffrey serves as the News Director for Acadia Broadcasting in Thunder Bay and continues his work in sports as a commentator for the Thunder Bay North Stars. He shared archival photos and memories of his start in the community to celebrate the milestone with former listeners and colleagues.
