The Dawson Creek City Council is currently asking for public feedback on a plan to simplify how the city reports its spending in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. The proposed update to the Financial Reports to Council Policy would change how often and in what format city staff present financial data to elected officials.
Under the proposed amendment, the city would stop producing a separate quarterly document known as a Receivables Report. Instead, the information about money owed to the city will be included in the existing Actual to Budget Variance Report, which compares actual spending against the yearly budget.
According to a report from Janice Anderson, the Deputy Corporate Officer, the change aims to reduce the amount of administrative work for city staff. The city found that the old standalone reports often showed differences caused by timing rather than actual financial risks.
Chief Administrative Officer Kevin Henderson approved the report, which is now open for a 30-day review period that ends on April 13, 2026. Residents who want to share their thoughts on the update can submit comments to Corporate Officer Tab Young by 4:30 pm on that day.
