The City of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, has awarded two contracts worth a combined $515,882 to local companies for upgrades to community buildings. The work will focus on making the local curling rink easier to access and repairing the exterior of a city-owned health clinic.
Celtic Construction Ltd., a local company founded in 1994, was awarded $308,102 to complete several upgrades at the Dawson Creek Curling Club. The project includes building a new entrance canopy and a new ramp to help people enter the 95-year-old facility more easily.
The second contract, worth $207,780, was given to WL Construction Ltd., a firm that has worked in the region for more than 50 years. The funding will cover outside repairs at the Rimrock Health Centre, including replacing the siding and fixing the main entrance steps and ramp.
Both projects were finalized this week after the bidding process closed on February 19, 2026. These investments are part of the local government’s 2026 budget, which council members approved on January 12, 2026, to address building needs across the community.
The work at the medical facility follows the city’s decision to buy the building in July 2024 to prevent it from closing and to support local healthcare. The curling rink upgrades continue a long-term plan to maintain the facility, which has seen more than $4.5 million in improvements since 2015.
