The City of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, has released additional ice rental slots at the Ovintiv Events Centre on March 17 and March 18, 2026, to provide local residents and sports groups with more time for skating and hockey.
These new times are available for hockey practices, figure skating, and casual skating. The recreation department is managing the bookings for families and local organizations who need extra space on the ice during the current season.
The city is using the Ovintiv Events Centre as a primary spot for ice sports this year because of a one-year trial at the Kin Arena. At that facility, the ice has been replaced with a sports floor to test how well a multi-use indoor fieldhouse works for the community.
The events centre is owned by the city and operated by the Oak View Group. This arrangement allows the city to keep enough ice available for residents while also exploring new ways to use other local recreation spaces.
Local groups and individuals can view the available slots and book their time through the city public access portal. The recreation department is offering these specific times to ensure all community members have fair access to the ice while the arena trial continues.
