The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has released a new list of grant opportunities for January 2026 to help non-profits in Dawson Creek and the wider Peace River region fund local projects. The announcement comes ahead of the important January 31, 2026 intake deadline for community groups seeking support through the PRRD’s Rural Recreational and Cultural Grant‑in‑Aid (GIA) program.

To help local groups apply, the regional district offers free professional assistance through its Grant Writer Services program. The service, delivered under contract by Clear Course Consulting (Clear Course Consulting Ltd.), provides one‑on‑one support to help volunteers and community organizations identify suitable grants and prepare applications for equipment, events and facility upgrades.

By mid‑2022 the program had helped bring in more than $1.6 million in external funding for regional organizations; PRRD later reported that assistance from the program had helped secure over $3 million as of September 2024. The initiative is intended to reduce the workload for volunteers at local libraries, fire halls, arts groups and sports leagues that may find the application process challenging.

A key date for local groups is January 31, 2026, the deadline for the PRRD Rural Recreational and Cultural Grant‑in‑Aid intake. That grant‑in‑aid is intended for registered not‑for‑profit societies and can be used to assist with general operating costs, capital costs and/or special community events, though eligibility and allowable uses vary by program and electoral area.

Organizations can stay updated on new opportunities by signing up for the PRRD’s Grant Opportunities newsletter or by booking a free consultation with the contract grant writer (contact: grantwriter@prrd.bc.ca). The Grant Writer Services program is supported in part by Northern Development Initiative Trust’s Grant Writing Support program, which provides annual rebate funding (commonly around $7,500) to help subsidize a locally based grant‑writer position.
