The Town of Deep River has launched its 2026 Municipal Election information portal on the municipal website, providing residents with details on how to vote and how to run for local office ahead of the scheduled vote on Monday, October 26, 2026.

People interested in running for a seat on council should note the nomination period opens May 1, 2026. Nominations close on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM.

The Town of Deep River intends to use internet and telephone voting for this election. That system allows voters to cast ballots remotely during the town’s multi-day voting period in mid‑October, concluding on Election Day, Monday, October 26, 2026.

According to the town’s council information, municipal elections are held every four years. The 2026 vote will fill seven seats on council: one mayor, one reeve and five councillors.

The election follows the rules set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Residents are encouraged to confirm their voter registration status via the town’s election portal or provincial VoterLookup services and to consult the Association of Municipalities of Ontario election calendar for key dates and guidance.
