The Elliot Lake Arts Club has opened registration for a series of hands-on workshops in January 2026 at the Downtown Arts Centre, 14 Elizabeth Walk. Residents can sign up now for watercolour painting with Lillian Asquith and an introduction to gel-plate printing; the club also offers Level 1 and 2 hand-building pottery sessions as part of its winter programming.
The watercolour course will be led by veteran local artist Lillian Asquith, who serves as the club’s NOAA representative and is a primary contact for ELAC workshops. Gel-plate printing is described as a no-press monotype technique (the ELAC page lists a gel-plate workshop on Jan. 31, 2026, instructor Brian Williams). The pottery Level 1 & 2 handbuilding workshops are listed on the ELAC site for Dec. 6, 13 and 20, 2025 (Instructor: Jola Klim) and cover beginner to intermediate hand-building methods.
All currently scheduled workshops, with member and non-member pricing and registration instructions, are listed on the Elliot Lake Arts Club workshop page, where participants can reserve their spot and pay via e-transfer, credit card, cash or cheque. Early registration helps the club plan studio schedules and ensures high-demand classes fill quickly.
Since moving into its permanent home at 14 Elizabeth Walk in late 2022/early 2023, the Arts Club has re-established its pottery and weaving studios after being displaced by the 2019 Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre roof collapse. The January and winter offerings mark the club’s continuing expansion of hands-on arts education and support ongoing cultural growth in Elliot Lake.
