Wellington County Solid Waste Services (SWS) has issued a correction to curbside collection dates for the Town of Erin after a previous notice gave residents incorrect makeup dates. The update clarifies when garbage and Green Bin organics will be picked up following recent delays related to winter weather and contractor logistics.

Wellington County Solid Waste Services posted an eNews correction on January 23, 2026, to amend clerical errors in an earlier rescheduling notice for specific Erin routes. The correction follows a week of collection disruptions that began the week of January 19, 2026, during which heavy snowfall and staffing issues contributed to missed and late pickups.

Erin residents are encouraged to verify their exact collection day using the County’s online curbside calendar or the Recycle Coach app. Note that residential recycling (Blue Box) was transitioned to the provincial producer-responsibility model on July 1, 2025 and is now managed by separate contractors (including the county’s curbside contractor, Waste Management Inc.), so this correction applies to Wellington County–managed services: yellow garbage bags and Green Bins.

If materials are not collected by 7 p.m. on the scheduled day, the county asks that residents leave items at the roadside so crews may attempt recovery pickups. To report a missed collection, residents should use the Recycle Coach app’s “Report an Issue” feature or the County website’s report tools on its garbage and recycling pages, or call Solid Waste Services at 519-837-2601 (or email wasteinfo@wellington.ca) for assistance.

Residents should refer only to the January 23 eNews correction and the County’s most recent schedule when determining collection days to avoid leaving bins out on incorrect dates.
