The Eskasoni Junior Eagles earned their 19th victory of the season in February 2026 to retain first place in the Sid Rowe Division. The win gives the team 38 points and helps them stay atop the division standings as the regular season reaches its final weeks — a key step toward securing the best possible position for the upcoming NSJHL playoffs.

The victory keeps the Eagles three points ahead of the Antigonish Bulldogs, a team that has historically been a Sid Rowe Division powerhouse. Holding this lead over their longtime rivals reflects the program’s growth over the last few years. The team is focused on staying consistent to preserve home-ice advantage for the post-season.

The Eagles play their home games at the Dan K. Stevens Memorial Arena, which has become a popular gathering place for the community since the club began play in the 2018-19 season. Team leaders such as Leroy Denny — Eskasoni First Nation chief, who also serves as the Eagles’ president — have worked to develop the young roster into a contender that represents the Eskasoni First Nation with pride. Local reporting has noted the team has become a major hit with fans who regularly fill the arena to support the players (see Windspeaker).

League officials have emphasized that every point earned in these final weeks is critical for the standings. The Eagles will need to maintain their momentum to finish the regular season in first place and secure the top seed. With the community rallying behind them, the team is aiming to make a deep run in the playoffs this spring.
