Residents in Exeter, Ontario, can learn how to help people facing homelessness at an upcoming information session for the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser. The information open house, organized by Experience Exeter (the local BIA), is scheduled for mid‑February and will prepare the community for the main walk taking place on February 28, 2026.

The session will show people how to start a team, register to walk, or volunteer to help during the event. Money raised will support the Southern Huron Connection Centre, which provides laundry, showers and meals for local people experiencing homelessness or housing instability. United Way Perth‑Huron manages the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising for the location.

According to Exeter Today, the walk helps neighbours understand the challenges of being outside during a cold Canadian winter. United Way Perth‑Huron manages the CNOY funds and says proceeds support services in the local community.

Last year, the Coldest Night of the Year walk in Exeter raised more than $75,000 to help address rural and hidden homelessness. This year’s open house aims to keep that momentum going by making it easy for new participants to sign up and start fundraising before the walk on Feb. 28.
