The Fort Saskatchewan Public Library has released its Fall 2026 What’s On guide, bringing a fresh lineup of programs for all ages and a new hands-on tool for exploring local wildlife. The guide went live on August 23, with registration for fall activities already underway.
Among the highlights is a new Bat Detector Kit now available for adult library card holders. The kit includes a Wildlife Acoustics Echo Meter Touch 2 detector, a tablet, a carrying case, information cards, and a bat identification guide. It was made possible through a partnership with WCS Canada and the Alberta Community Bat Program 2026.
Library patrons can borrow the kit to detect bat echolocation calls in their own neighbourhoods. The library is one of seven Alberta locations offering the kits, including Wood Buffalo Regional Library and Red Deer Public Library. The program comes as nearly half of Canada’s 18 bat species are considered at risk due to habitat loss and White-nose Syndrome.
The fall guide also marks the return of Sunday hours at the library starting in September. From September through June, the library will be open Sundays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Weekday hours remain Monday to Thursday from 9:00am to 8:00pm, Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
Residents can browse the full fall lineup in the What’s On Fall 2026 guide online. Programs range from early literacy sessions like Baby and Me and Alphabet Soup, to STEM activities, Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, book clubs, and a local author fair. Library cards are free for Fort Saskatchewan residents and can be obtained in person or online at fspl.ca.
