The Rotary District 5370 has asked the Rotary Club of Fort Saskatchewan in Alberta to start new projects focused on clean water and hygiene throughout March 2026. This regional call to action aims to turn community awareness into hands-on work during what the organization calls Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month.
Local residents can expect to see new initiatives such as hygiene kit donation drives for shelters and water-focused education programs in local schools. The group may also lead environmental clean-ups along the North Saskatchewan River to help improve the health of local waterways.
District Governor Ramesh Ferris, who is a polio survivor, is leading this push to show how local health efforts help global goals. He explained that better access to clean water and sanitation makes public health systems stronger and supports the worldwide fight to end polio.
This focus on new projects arrives after the local club faced a major decline in volunteers that nearly caused it to close in late 2025. By working on these visible community tasks, the club hopes to attract new members and ensure it can continue serving the area for years to come.
