Starting February 26, 2026, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, transit users connecting through Sherwood Park may face longer trips due to a detour on a major bus route. Strathcona County Transit has placed Route 450 on a detour that changes how people move through the area.

The detour is important for people from Fort Saskatchewan who take Route 600 to the Bethel Transit Terminal. This terminal is the main hub where riders switch from the Fort Saskatchewan commuter bus to local routes. Route 450 is a common choice for residents trying to reach the Sherwood Park Mall, the Strathcona County Library, and the Kinsmen Leisure Centre.

Transit officials say the detour includes bus stop closures that will also change how on-demand transit pick-ups and drop-offs work. Riders who use on-demand services for travel should expect different stop locations or longer walks to get to their final destination. This change follows the launch of a new winter transit map that began on February 8, 2026.

Passengers are encouraged to look at updated route maps online or call the transit information line at 780-464-RIDE for the most current details. Planning for extra travel time is recommended when transferring between the Fort Saskatchewan bus and local services in Sherwood Park.
