The Gananoque Police Service is asking people in Gananoque, Ontario, to share their thoughts through a new survey that will help decide what officers should focus on over the next four years. This feedback will be used to create a plan that sets the department’s goals for community safety and how it uses its resources from 2026 through 2029.
Chief Rich Swann and the Gananoque Police Services Board are looking for input on specific local issues, including traffic safety and the response to illegal drugs. This is the first major long-term plan led by Chief Swann since he took over the top role in March 2025.
Residents and business owners can complete the survey online or request a paper copy from the Gananoque Police Service, or pick up physical copies at Town Hall. The police station’s address is 340 Herbert St. Gathering this public input is a requirement under the Community Safety and Policing Act (CSPA), which requires police services boards to seek community input as part of strategic planning.
The results will help the board decide whether to grow or change current programs, such as the teams that focus on road safety or those that pair officers with mental health workers for certain calls. The police service expects to have the final version of the new plan ready by the middle of 2026.
