The Town of Gananoque, Ontario, will host a public meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to present final designs for Phase 2 of the Arthur Street Reconstruction Project. This phase will upgrade the road and underground water infrastructure from Charles Street South to the parkland east of William Street.

Residents can attend the meeting in the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of Town Hall (30 King Street East) to review how the work will affect property lines and utility connections; the meeting will also be available virtually via the Town’s portal. The Town of Gananoque expects construction to begin in May 2026 after several years of planning to replace aging pipes that date back several decades.

The project is being funded through the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) and the Town’s municipal capital reserves. Earlier stages of the reconstruction required council-approved budget deviations in 2024 — for example, the Council Meeting Highlights (April 2, 2024) record a budget deviation to an upset limit of $175,720 + HST for Arthur Street Phase I components — reflecting higher-than-expected costs in Phase 1.

Mayor John Beddows has warned the town would need to make difficult financial choices to complete major infrastructure projects; his comments were reported in the Brockville Recorder & Times (Jul. 2, 2024). At the February 24 meeting, town staff will also explain planned traffic detours and how access will be managed while construction proceeds in 2026.
