The Town of Gananoque, Ontario, is hosting a public panel at Gananoque Town Hall (30 King Street East) on Wednesday, February 26, 2026, to discuss challenges and potential solutions for local affordable housing. The meeting gives residents a chance to hear from community members and housing experts about how to make homes more attainable for everyone.
The panel will feature officials from the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville who will share information on practical housing programs. This includes the Counties’ Secondary Suite/Accessory Residential Unit supports and related funding programs that help property owners create extra living spaces in their homes or on their land to increase rental supply.
Residents will also get updates on innovative construction projects, such as the 3D-printed townhouses being developed by Horizon Legacy. The Horizon Legacy project at 425 Fourth Street is a 26-unit stacked-townhouse development; eight units (30 percent) are designated as affordable rentals to help address the local shortage of lower-cost housing.
The event is designed to support the 2025–2035 Leeds and Grenville Housing and Homelessness Plan and its focus on expanding options for a growing senior population and low-income families. Community members are encouraged to attend to provide input, learn about proposed actions in the 10-year plan and to discover ways to advocate for housing measures that benefit the entire community.
