The Gananoque Curling Club is hosting free beginner curling lessons for residents of Gananoque, Ontario, on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The two-hour session runs from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is intended to let locals try the sport without paying for a membership or buying equipment.
Club instructors will teach the basics of the game, including sliding on the ice, sweeping stones and basic strategy. The club is providing specialized equipment such as sliders and brooms; participants are asked to bring clean indoor sneakers and wear warm, layered clothing.
This session follows recent facility improvements at the club’s building at 300 William St. S. The Trenton Trentonian reported that the Gananoque Curling Club received a $141,700 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which was used to upgrade the building’s roof, windows and air conditioning system to improve access and comfort for programs and events.
The club’s Curling IO profile notes the club has over 200 members and invites the community to join. The club’s long-time manager, Jayne Curtis, is a primary spokesperson for the outreach initiative; the club says it hopes to attract new players and families through the free session.
